Spring Cleaning: Makeover in May 💅
Today, we’re highlighting a final bit of spring cleaning before our grand city becomes a summer sauna. A few months ago, a client of ours came to us with these words:
"My yard has become overrun after construction, illness and decomposition of the pine I had outlining the beds. I'd like to unearth some of it, get hardscaping for the beds and designate food growing places amongst some of the surviving plants. I'd like to explore water capture for watering.”
Words like these are music to our ears! All things pointed to a backyard makeover in May…
BEFORE
The backyard was the main area of concern for our client. Since a high priority for them was increasing growing space and making the footprint more navigable, we knew there would be some invasive removal and mulch laying involved. We also wanted to set up some kind of infrastructure to make the incline easier to traverse.
DURING
To make our incline more navigable we opted for a small retaining wall that would caress the slope and level out the growing area closest to the house. Flagstones were put in to help even more with the daily foot traffic coming from the back porch.
AFTER
Quite the transformation (if we may say so ourselves…)! The organic lines of the stone wall blend into the landscape, creating a nice and level growing space for the client to experiment with. Our flagstone pathway heads all the way down to the end of the property, where we put a small patio. If you're dreaming up a project like this, we'd love to help—get in touch to book a consultation!
